Design/decision issue. Evaluate options: Brave Search, Serper, SerpAPI, DuckDuckGo. Criteria:

  • Pricing and rate limits
  • Result quality
  • Privacy implications (what data leaves the user's machine)
  • Whether an API key is required and how to handle missing key

Decision should also cover: opt-in vs opt-out default, search result summarization approach (another AI call, heuristic extraction, etc.).
